Setting the Right Standard
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) started in 2005 a voluntary scheme for private veterinary businesses permitting them to be independently inspected and accredited. Through setting standards and carrying out regular inspections, the Scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care.
It offers peace of mind to clients of accredited practices and a more informed choice to the animal-owning public. To become accredited, practices volunteer for rigorous inspection every four years and will have met a range of minimum standards including hygiene, staff training, certain types of equipment and cost estimation procedures.
Practices are also subject to spot-checks between inspections. Around 50% of UK practice’s are currently accredited under the scheme including St-David Veterinary Centre. The RCVS logo indicates that we continue to meet the high standards set by our regulatory body the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
At the surgery our satisfaction is in the care we provide and not in the praise we receive. That said we are always overwhelmed by the generous letters and cards of thanks we frequently receive. Over recent years our clients gratitude for our work has extended to certain nominations. The large pet insurance firm ‘Pet Plan’ hold annual Veterinary Awards for surgeries and their staff. The last 3 years has seen St-David Veterinary Centre receive nominations for ‘Veterinary Surgery’ of the year with individuals, nursing and veterinary staff, also being nominated for their respective categories.
